Fat Senders started as a blog to share my experiences as a non-binary, fat person in Salt Lake City, Utah. It quickly blossomed into a non-profit organization, we now have two chapters, one in Salt Lake City, UT and one in San Diego, CA. Our goal is to cultivate safe spaces for fat folks to build community and try new things. Group meet ups, working with brands to expand size ranges for technical gear and sharing community narratives are just a few ways we are working towards that goal. Participants in our meet ups are held to a set of guidelines to ensure the most inclusive environment possible. We are specifically focused on rock climbing and a majority of our events are catered to outdoor activities, but we host at least one social event per month.
